According to the response to an official inquiry, no further information can be disclosed in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Unofficial reports emerged on March 3, 2024, stating that a lieutenant colonel from a border unit in the Zhetysu district of Almaty was detained on suspicion of pedophilia. It was alleged that he arrived intoxicated to meet a 14-year-old for intimate purposes.
At the time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan indicated that the South Regional Military Investigation Department was overseeing the verification process. The investigation is ongoing, with operational measures being taken to establish evidence related to the case.
