in Corruption / Kazakhstan - by

The Almaty Prosecutor's Office has returned a part of the Emergency Medical Services complex, which was transferred into private ownership by the former city akim Viktor Khrapunov. The decision of the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of Almaty from 27.11.2023 declaring the transfer of part of the complex into private ownership invalid came into legal force on February 15, 2024. The court confirmed the illegality of the decision by the former city akim Khrapunov to transfer a building of 3800 sq. m and 50 acres of land on Raiymbek Avenue, 196, to private entities. As a result, part of the healthcare complex in the city has been returned to state ownership.

Viktor Khrapunov served as the head of Almaty from June 16, 1997, to December 9, 2004. On March 13, 2024, it was reported that prosecutors in the Turkestan region had returned 4400 hectares of hunting land to the state, which belonged to the unscrupulous forest user – the airline Scat.
