Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Explains Resignation of Deputy Minister and Plans for Healthcare Digitalization

Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, Akmaral Alnazarova, explained the departure of Beibut Yesenbayev from the position of Deputy Minister in the Mazhilis on March 18. Alnazarova stated that within the framework of the State Program of Healthcare Development, significant changes are needed in the digitalization of healthcare.

"Any issue requires transparency. Over the past five years, over 15 billion tenge has been allocated for these purposes - with almost zero effect. No system operates fully, and does not allow to ensure the proper level of transparency in the use of industry resources," she said.

According to her, the existing over 35 medical information systems only complicate the process of providing medical care and the quality of doctors' work. "We have achieved the proper level with the Republican Center for Health Development, relieved the Vice-Minister (Beibut Yesenbayev) in charge of this area of his duties. The work will continue in this direction - it is a significant amount of work," summarized the Minister of Health.

Akmaral Alnazarova also spoke about numerous violations of financial discipline, embezzlement, and unjustified payments of salaries and bonuses. This concerns the funds allocated for medical care and drug provision.
