A new law has been published in Kazakhstan, prohibiting the sale of vapes in the country. The law introduces penalties for the sale, import, and production of non-smoking tobacco products, electronic consumption systems (vapes), flavorings, and liquids for them.
According to the amendments made to the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan, penalties include fines of up to 2000 Monthly Financial Indicators (7,384,000 tenge), corrective labor of the same amount, community service for up to 600 hours, restriction of freedom for up to two years, or imprisonment for the same period with or without confiscation of property.
Furthermore, for offenses committed by criminal groups, associated with significant profit, or repeated offenses, fines of up to 5000 Monthly Financial Indicators (18,460,000 tenge), corrective labor, community service for up to 1200 hours, restriction of freedom for up to five years, or imprisonment for the same period with or without property confiscation are prescribed.
On April 19, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed the law "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Healthcare." This law aims to regulate the sale and use of vapes in the country, emphasizing public health concerns and the prevention of harmful substances' distribution.
