The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan is implementing new approaches in providing emergency medical care in obstetrics. This was reported by the department's press service on April 27, 2024.

According to the press release, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the professorial and teaching staff of scientific republican centers and higher educational institutions, has updated the clinical protocol for the diagnosis and treatment of obstetric hemorrhage to "improve the quality of medical care for pregnant women, parturients, and postpartum women."

"International experience was studied, and corresponding changes were made in accordance with the latest recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). Within the framework of the updated protocol, a new approach to providing first aid aimed at stabilizing the condition of women in postpartum hemorrhage has been introduced. This involves the use of non-pneumatic anti-shock garments."

The press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan highlighted that the first nine sets of non-pneumatic anti-shock garments have already been donated to maternity care organizations in Astana in collaboration with one of the charitable foundations.

The ministry emphasized that the anti-shock garments are included in the interdepartmental list of medical products of the WHO, UNICEF, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for essential interventions in the field of reproductive health, maternal health, newborns, and children.

"This clothing reduces blood flow to the uterus, treats hypovolemic shock, and can sustain a woman's life with bleeding for up to 48 hours. This innovative technology, developed based on advanced scientific research, helps prevent complications and saves the lives of many patients worldwide."

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan announced a phased increase in tariffs for medical services. It was noted that the state will allocate more funds, primarily towards childhood and maternity care.
