In the Kyzylorda region, a man fell ill with fever while taking care of cattle. He lived in the Shieli district.

"After being bitten by a tick, the man did not seek medical help. He interacted with other relatives, went to work on a farm, and ignored the illness. He was brought to the hospital several days later when his condition was severe. He received necessary medical assistance, but due to the late visit to the doctors, he could not be saved," said the chief doctor of the regional infectious diseases hospital, Adilbay Medetbayev.

As the head of the regional department of sanitary and epidemiological control, Aliya Abdikayimova, mentioned at a briefing, a confirmed case of fever occurred in April. Since the beginning of 2024, 108 residents of Kyzylorda have sought medical attention with suspicion of this disease after tick bites.

Doctors noted that summer has not even arrived yet, but it is already very hot in the Kyzylorda region, and ticks have become active early. The climate of the region is favorable for tick reproduction due to the hot summer and high air temperatures.

Since March 2024, in the Kyzylorda region, tick collection has been carried out jointly with a zooparasitological group. To date, almost 12,000 ticks have been collected, with samples taken from 1331 of them. Thirteen of them tested positive for Congo-Crimean fever.

Doctors reminded residents of the region to exercise maximum caution when in steppe areas and near livestock yards. If symptoms of Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever are detected, immediate medical help should be sought.

The head of the regional mobilization preparedness management, Marat Kurmanbaev, noted that in the Kyzylorda region, 115 settlements have been recognized as unfavorable, and acaricidal disinfection is being carried out in them. This will continue until June 8.
