The Petropavlovsk Akimat made an important announcement on April 4, 2024, declaring a state of emergency in the city due to severe flooding.

According to the authorities, heavy snowmelt began on March 26, 2024, leading to the flooding of residential areas in the city. The increased pressure on the sewage system and stormwater networks resulted in the collapse of a collector on Abay Street, further exacerbating the situation.

As a consequence, the livelihoods of the residents have been severely impacted, with residential homes being submerged. The press service of the Petropavlovsk Akimat emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for coordinated efforts to address the ongoing crisis.
