Challenging Verdict: Kuandyk Bishimbayev Case Heads to Capital's Court

Appeals against the verdict of the first instance court in the case of Kuandyk Bishimbayev and Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov have been submitted to the city court in the capital.

The editorial team reached out to the press service of the Astana court for details.

On May 13, 2024, Kuandyk Bishimbayev was sentenced to 24 years in prison, while Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov was sentenced to four years in prison.

Kuandyk Bishimbayev was found guilty of causing physical and mental suffering to his wife Saltanat Nukenova from mid-March to November 9, 2023, through systematic beatings or other violent actions, committed against a person financially dependent on the perpetrator. Additionally, on November 9, 2023, he committed the murder of Saltanat Nukenova, which constitutes the unlawful intentional killing of another person with particular cruelty.

Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov was found guilty of aiding and abetting a particularly serious crime committed by Kuandyk Bishimbayev on November 9, 2023.
