Successful Evacuation Efforts in Kostanay Region Amidst Flooding Crisis

In the Kostanay region, a total of 7487 individuals, including 11 with disabilities and 1239 children, have been rescued and evacuated. Currently, 943 people, including 322 children, are being housed in temporary shelters according to the regional authorities.

The rescue operations have mobilized a total of 2237 personnel from various agencies such as the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, local authorities, Border Service of the National Security Committee, and other organizations. Additionally, 390 pieces of equipment, 142 motor pumps, 29 watercraft, and 3 aircraft have been deployed in the region.

The efforts have resulted in the pumping out of approximately 771,822 cubic meters of water since the onset of the flooding, with an additional 13,860 cubic meters removed in the last 24 hours. Over 72,799 sandbags and 7205 tons of inert materials have been utilized for flood protection measures.

The operations, including water pumping and sandbag placement, are ongoing in 9 regions and several cities within the Kostanay region. Volunteers and concerned citizens have been providing significant support, offering assistance round the clock, providing hot meals and beverages to the emergency personnel and law enforcement agencies involved in flood control activities.

Continuous monitoring of the flood situation is being conducted, with the authorities affirming that the situation remains under control. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there are still 3702 private residential houses, 562 yards, 1822 country houses, 73 various-purpose buildings, and 155 road sections affected by flooding across the republic.
