The trial of ex-minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev, accused of brutally murdering his wife Saltanat Nukenova, continues in Astana. Witness Damir Meirbekov testified on April 9th, revealing details of the night at the Bau restaurant. Meirbekov's cell phone records and messages with the hall's administrator were presented in court.

The messages described Bishimbayev's behavior and the chaotic events that unfolded that night. Meirbekov mentioned incidents of violence and destruction by Bishimbayev in the VIP room. He also recalled previous disturbances in the same VIP room, indicating a pattern of disruptive behavior. Despite the alarming events, Meirbekov did not anticipate the tragic outcome. The investigation revealed further details, including the presence of tape in VIP room No. 5. Bishimbayev was arrested on November 9, 2023, following the death of his wife at the Bau restaurant.

The investigation concluded on January 8, 2024, with additional charges of "Torture" added to the initial accusation of "Murder with Special Cruelty." Various witnesses, including a paramedic and a patrol officer, provided testimony in court. The victim's lawyer disclosed the cause of Saltanat Nukenova's death on April 4, while Bishimbayev addressed the court on April 1, expressing remorse to Nukenova's family but denying intentional murder.
