Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev and Atyrau Region Governor Serik Shapkenov recently conducted an aerial inspection along the Ural River to evaluate the progress of reinforcing riverbanks and constructing dams in response to rising water levels. The focus was on assessing the efforts in Inderbor and Makhambet villages, where water levels have shown a significant increase.

In Inderbor, a total of 87 pieces of equipment and 505 volunteers are engaged in fortifying 14.9 km of embankments and deploying 103.5 thousand sandbags. Similarly, in Makhambet, 4,000 volunteers and 210 pieces of equipment are working on reinforcing dams and laying 12.8 km of new embankments. During the inspection, Bozumbaev also visited the ancient Sarayshyk settlement along the Ural River, emphasizing the importance of preserving the historical site and enhancing protective measures.

Efforts to strengthen the Ural riverbank are also ongoing in Atyrau city, with the work divided into 107 sections managed by designated personnel. Currently, 32 km of dams have been constructed, with the involvement of 503 pieces of equipment, close to 9,000 volunteers, and 373 thousand sandbags. Bozumbaev also interacted with residents of Kurylys and Zharsuat villages in Inderbor, where the need for heavy machinery for embankment works was identified. Additional equipment will be provided from other regions based on requests from local authorities, with coordination through the Ministry of Defense to mobilize extra resources.

The Vice Prime Minister has issued instructions to further reinforce vulnerable sections along the Ural River to mitigate the risk of future floods and safeguard settlements and landmarks with full government support. Furthermore, a plan has been devised to accommodate children evacuated due to the floods, ensuring their education at specific institutions.
