Court Proceedings Begin for Former Minister Accused of Brutal Murder

On April 11, 2024, at 9:30 in Astana, the ninth court session commenced regarding the criminal case of former Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who is accused of the particularly brutal murder of his civil wife Saltanat Nukenova.

The trial is taking place in the Specialized Inter-District Court for Criminal Cases of the capital, with the judge presiding over the case being Ayzhan Kulbayeva. The defendants, Kuandyk Bishimbayev and his brother Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov, are facing charges.

Kuandyk Bishimbayev is charged with two articles of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan - "Murder" and "Torture"; while Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov is charged with the offense of "Concealment of a Crime". The court proceedings are divided into two parts, with the second part yet to unfold.
