On April 13, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan discussed the quality of water during floods. According to the ministry's press service, specialists from the territorial bodies of sanitary and epidemiological control are monitoring the quality of water supplied to the population in flood-affected regions. Samples for sanitary-chemical and microbiological analyses are taken from centralized and decentralized sources of water supply.

Since the beginning of the floods, over six thousand samples of drinking water have been taken from centralized and decentralized sources. Overall, the rate of non-compliant samples does not exceed the average annual republican rate for 2022-2023.

Local executive bodies and water management organizations are informed about non-compliant samples to take managerial measures to prevent the supply of unsafe drinking water, conduct flushing and disinfection of water supply networks and facilities with control sampling of drinking water.

The Ministry of Health's press service also mentioned that the day before, the akim of Petropavlovsk, Serik Mukhamediyev, apologized to the residents for the inconvenience caused by the drinking water cut-off and discussed the work of communal services in this regard.
