Communal services in Petropavlovsk are tirelessly working to restore electricity in the city as weather conditions normalize. Residents of Petropavlovsk were left without electricity due to damaged reinforced concrete pillars caused by flooding, gusty winds, and massive ice drifts. A pumping station in the city has been temporarily shut down, leading to disruptions in the supply of drinking water.
For over 10 hours, emergency rescue teams have been attempting to restore power, with 30 personnel and 6 pieces of equipment deployed. The repair efforts were hindered by a rapid water flow and massive ice blocks. To ensure the safety of rescuers and municipal staff, the restoration work was temporarily halted.
"As weather conditions improve, emergency restoration work will resume, and residents are provided with all necessary assistance," stated the local authorities. On April 12, the mayor of Petropavlovsk, Serik Mukhamediyev, apologized for the inconvenience caused by the water supply disruption and outlined the actions being taken by communal services to address the issue.
