On April 14th, the official representative of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Shyngys Ilyasov, provided updates on the state of electrical networks in flooded regions of the country. He highlighted the efforts to address the water supply issue in Petropavlovsk, where all four power supplies were damaged due to a sudden rise in water levels and ice. The installation of a new transformer and diesel generator is currently underway to restore electricity.
Regarding the electricity supply in Petropavlovsk, Ilyasov confirmed that power restrictions for consumers in the city have been fully lifted. In other regions, significant progress has been made in restoring power, with the number of people without electricity reduced drastically.
Over 9,000 energy specialists and 2,145 pieces of specialized automotive equipment are involved in emergency response efforts. A total of 414 mobile power sources are available to support the restoration process. The focus now is on repairing 1,867 power line poles of various voltage classes.
In Petropavlovsk, water supply has been restored after the city was left without drinking water due to flooding. Efforts by communal services have been successful in addressing the issue. As of April 13th, drinking water is being distributed in Petropavlovsk, with pressure in the system gradually increasing and plans to supply water to all households once pressure is normalized.
