The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has reported that rescuers in the Zhambyl region are currently conducting round-the-clock operations to pump out meltwater in the city of Atbasar in the Akmola region. In addition, 45 local residents, including 25 children, have been evacuated to safe locations in the village of Samarka. More than 1500 sandbags have been laid to protect the local school.
Previously, the ministry announced that the Republican Operational Rescue Team is evacuating local residents and pets from country houses near the city of Uralsk in the West Kazakhstan region around the clock.
Moreover, continuous evacuations of citizens from flood-affected areas are ongoing in the North Kazakhstan region. The ongoing flooding is considered the most severe in Kazakhstan in the last 80 years.
