The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has commented on the cancellation of the International Astana Forum scheduled for April 15, 2024, due to the ongoing flooding situation in the regions. The official representative of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aibek Smadiyarov, highlighted that a significant number of foreign high-ranking guests had been invited to the forum.

"We are currently in the process of preparing and sending out letters to explain the situation and confirm that the forum will resume next year. We appreciate our partners' understanding and support during this challenging time," stated Aibek Smadiyarov.

When asked about the frequency of such cancellations of large international events in the country, Aibek Smadiyarov mentioned, "I haven't kept track, I don't know. This is a normal occurrence, and I don't see any precedent for this. It is a practical decision by the head of state."

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the cancellation of the International Astana Forum scheduled for June 13-14, citing the severe floods in the country as the reason. The decision was made to allocate resources towards addressing the aftermath of the devastating natural disaster.
