Kazakh Majilis deputy Daulet Mukayev stated on April 18, 2024, that traveling abroad is more accessible for Kazakhstanis than vacationing at Lake Alakol. Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, Erzhan Erkinbayev, mentioned that starting from June 1, Qazaq Air plans to launch an additional flight from Astana to Urgjar. However, Deputy Mukayev believes this is not sufficient.
He questioned, "When should I buy a ticket then? It is necessary to plan in advance when it comes to tourism matters. June 1 is the beginning of the summer season, children start their vacations. Instead of waiting for one flight, it is easier and cheaper to travel to neighboring Uzbekistan, Turkey, or other countries."
On July 21, 2023, Kazakhs also complained about the high cost of train tickets, especially for popular tourist routes. It was noted that people were forced to hunt for tickets to resorts on Lake Alakol.
