The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan has announced the average pension size for April 1, 2024. According to the ministry, a total of 926.5 billion tenge has been paid out from the republican budget for pensions since the beginning of the year. Out of this amount, 291.4 billion tenge has been allocated for basic pensions, while 635.1 billion tenge has been directed towards solidarity pensions.

As of April 1, 2024, there are 2,364,000 pensioners in Kazakhstan. The average total pension size on that date was reported to be 132,595 tenge. This includes 89,901 tenge for solidarity pensions and 42,694 tenge for basic pensions.

Since July 1, 2018, the state basic pension payment has been individually determined for each recipient based on their participation in the pension system. This includes labor participation up to January 1, 1998, and periods for which mandatory pension contributions were made. If pension contributions are made multiple times in a month to the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund, it is counted as one month of participation in the accumulative system.

The pension amounts based on age depend on the work experience as of January 1, 1998 (requiring at least six months) and the average monthly income earned during the pre-retirement period. As of March 1, 2024, there were 2,354,000 pensioners in Kazakhstan, with an average total pension size of 132,852 tenge, comprising 90,091 tenge for solidarity pensions and 42,761 tenge for basic pensions.
