New Water Level Data for Ural River in Atyrau Region on April 19, 2024

The Emergency Situations Headquarters of the Atyrau Region has provided updated information on the water level in the Ural River as of April 19, 2024. The hydrological monitoring by "Kazhydromet" indicates significant changes in the river's level due to water inflow from the ZKO territory.

At the hydrological station on the Ural River in Inderbor, the water level is at 560 cm, with a 5 cm increase in the past day and a total rise of 337 cm since the start of the flood. In Mahambet, the water level stands at 688 cm, with a 9 cm rise in the last 24 hours and a total increase of 371 cm since the beginning of the flood.

Furthermore, at the hydrological station in Atyrau, the water level is at 399 cm, having risen by 3 cm in a day and by 208 cm overall since the start of the flood. Specialists warn of further water level increases.

On April 19, the Irtysh Reservoir's inflow is 422 m³/s, with a discharge of 345 m³/s. Meanwhile, not all Kazakh citizens are united in combating the massive floods. In Atyrau, individuals were caught stealing sandbags from the riverbanks to use for fortifying their homes. Four men and a woman were apprehended for loading sandbags into a vehicle for personal use, leading to criminal charges for petty theft against them.
