The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan announced on April 19th that biometrics for passengers will be introduced in all airports across the country.
According to the ministry, the use of electronic ticket purchases, online reservations, and digital documents has become common in passenger transportation. The next step in digitalization will be the biometric identification of passengers during boarding, significantly simplifying and speeding up the boarding process at airports.
In 2023, biometrics was piloted at the capital's airport, with plans to scale the project to all airports in Kazakhstan based on the positive experience. Additionally, the successful implementation of the E-freight information system has optimized business processes in the cargo aviation sector in Kazakhstan, with all airlines and airports connected to the platform.
Through electronic cargo processing and handling, significant reductions in time losses in organizing air cargo transportation have been achieved, as highlighted by the ministry.
In March 2024, Kazakhstan updated its rules on personal data protection, showcasing ongoing efforts to enhance aviation and data management practices in the country.
