The official representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Moldir Abdyalieva, provided an update on the current situation of the country's water reservoirs.

- In the Akmola region, Astana and Seletinsk reservoirs are at 100% capacity and operating normally.

- In North Kazakhstan, two major reservoirs are also full at 100%, with ongoing spring flooding. The situation remains tense in the region.

- In Aktobe region, two large reservoirs are 97% full, operating smoothly.

- Eastern Kazakhstan reports an average fill level of around 80% in two major reservoirs.

- Shulbinsk reservoir in Abay region is at 69% capacity due to increased tributaries, leading to ongoing nature conservation releases. The reservoirs of the Ertis cascade are operating normally.

- In West Kazakhstan, the average fill level of four major reservoirs is 83%, all functioning normally.

- The water level of the Zhaiyk river at the border with Russia is at 884 cm.

- In Karaganda region, three major reservoirs are at 98% capacity, maintaining stability.

- Meanwhile, in Kostanay region, two large reservoirs are at 92% capacity and operating normally.

Abdyalieva mentioned continuous monitoring and surveillance at the reservoirs, with hourly water management assessments. From March 27 to April 18, 19 cubic kilometers of floodwater entered the reservoirs of the Tobol, Esil, Zhaiyk, and Ilek basins, with a discharge of 16 cubic kilometers this year. Currently, three cubic kilometers of water have been collected in the reservoirs, compared to 1.2 cubic kilometers last year.

Previously, intense water flows through the dam of the Sergeyevsk reservoir in North Kazakhstan were captured on video. The situation reflects the challenges and management efforts amidst the spring flooding season in Kazakhstan.
