Intensified Flood Prevention Efforts in Western Kazakhstan as Situation Remains Complex

In the West Kazakhstan region, flood prevention efforts have been intensified as the situation in the region remains challenging. According to morning reports, the water level in the Zhaiyk River has reached 852 cm, exceeding the critical threshold. In four districts of the region and in the city of Uralsk, flood prevention works are being carried out in an intensified mode, as stated in the briefing by the Emergency Situations Committee.

Over 13,000 people have been evacuated in Western Kazakhstan, including approximately 6,000 children, as reported by the head of the region's akim's press service, Erkhan Tatken. "More than 10,000 pieces of equipment, over 2,000 units of specialized machinery, and over 11,000 individuals are involved in flood prevention efforts," the speaker stated during the briefing at the Emergency Situations Committee.

More than 11 settlements in the West Kazakhstan region are at risk of flooding due to the rising water levels in the Zhaiyk River, as highlighted in the Ministry of Emergency Situations' statement dated April 20th.
