in News / Kazakhstan - by

The trial of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev continued in Astana on April 22. Judge Aizhan Kulbayeva announced at the beginning of the session that media representatives would be allowed back into the courtroom.

Judge Aizhan Kulbayeva explained that it was discovered during an investigation that photos and videos of the jury members were shared by the KTK channel in the media and on social networks.

The majority of the trial participants expressed no objections to media presence, except for Bishimbayev's defense team.

In light of the trial being conducted openly and to ensure transparency and fair judicial proceedings, Judge Aizhan Kulbayeva deemed it necessary to allow media representatives into the courtroom, including the KTK channel, as they had previously faced administrative penalties for violating regulations.

On April 10, 2024, media representatives were removed from the courtroom during Bishimbayev's trial due to disrespect towards the court. It was revealed that the media had filmed the jury members, which was initially prohibited, and shared the footage on social media.
