Changes in Parking Norms for Educational Institutions in Astana

The Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services issued a decree on April 10, 2024, amending the state standard SNiP RK "Layout and Development of the City of Astana." Specifically, the construction norms regarding "Facilities for Science and Education" and the "Parking Space Provision Norm" tables have been revised.

According to the new regulations, higher education institutions in the central district of the city should provide 3-5 parking spaces for teachers and staff, plus one parking space for every 15 daytime students. In other city districts, the requirement is 2-3 parking spaces for teachers and staff, plus one parking space for every 6-10 daytime students.

For schools, vocational institutions, colleges, special and private schools, as well as schools of arts and music of urban significance, the parking provision should be 4-5 spaces for teachers and staff in the central part of the city, along with one parking space for every 10 senior students, and space for a school bus stop. In other city districts, the requirement is 3-4 parking spaces for teachers and staff, plus one parking space for every 8 senior students, and space for a school bus stop.

In preschool institutions, the parking provision may include 3 spaces for staff and 2 to 6 spaces for visitors in the central part of the city, with space for a bus stop. In other city districts, the requirement is 2 spaces for staff and 4 to 8 spaces for visitors, with space for a bus stop.
