Kazakhstan Government Clarifies Mechanisms for Providing Additional Aid to Flood Victims

The Kazakh government announced on April 23, 2024, the mechanisms for providing additional assistance to those affected by floods. The aid will include compensation for household items such as refrigerators, cooking stoves, tables, chairs, beds, washing machines, televisions or radios, as well as water supply and heating equipment.

The compensation will be determined by a commission at the local level and will not exceed 150 MRP (553,800 tenge). According to Vice Minister for Emergency Situations Bauyrzhan Syzdykov, the amount of compensation will vary based on the extent of property damage, with some individuals receiving 150 MRP and others receiving 50 or 80 MRP.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov previously stated that additional compensation will be provided to flood victims to purchase essential items. He emphasized that people will be able to use the compensation of up to 150 MRP to replace essential items that were lost during the floods.
