Massive Forest Fire in "Semey Ormany" Claims Lives, Sparking National Mourning

According to preliminary information from the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife, on April 26 at 13:21, it was reported that in the Borodulikhinsky district, 15 km from the village of Borodulikha, pine trees are burning within the territory of the branch of the State Forest Nature Reserve "Semey Ormany".

It is noted that the area is difficult to access and marshy.

The forestry of "Semey Ormany" is conducting firefighting operations. Seventeen people and nine pieces of equipment were dispatched.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that the fire was localized at 15:04, with a preliminary area of 0.22 hectares.

On June 8, 2023, a large forest fire broke out in "Semey Ormany". By June 9, the area of the fire had increased to 30,000 hectares, and three forestry workers had lost their lives. The fire was extinguished over a month later, claiming the lives of 14 people. Following the deaths caused by the forest fire, June 12 was declared a National Day of Mourning in Kazakhstan.
