Earthquake with Magnitude 8.7 Strikes Kazakhstan's East Region, No Perceptibility Reported

Seismologists today, on April 27, 2024, recorded an earthquake in Kazakhstan.

According to the data from the "National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, underground tremors were registered in the East Kazakhstan region at 7:44.

"The epicenter of the earthquake is located 915 km northeast of Almaty in Kazakhstan. The energy class of the earthquake is 8.7. The MPV magnitude is 4.0. The coordinates of the epicenter are 49.27° N, 84.91° E. The depth is 20 km," the statement said.

Seismologists noted that there is no information about the perceptibility of the earthquake in Kazakhstan.

On April 24, 2024, an earthquake occurred in the Zaysan district of the East Kazakhstan region. According to seismologists, the perceptibility was 2 on the scale.
