Massive Relief Efforts: Thousands Return Home After Kazakhstan Flooding Crisis

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced that 39,254 evacuated Kazakhs have returned to their homes. According to reports, there are still 6,727 people remaining in evacuation centers.

It is specified that over 12.8 million cubic meters of meltwater have been pumped out since the beginning of the flood, more than 6.6 million sandbags have been laid, and 1.5 million tons of inert material have been used.

"2250 calls were received on the hotline," the statement said.

Earlier, it was reported that celebratory farewells were held in northern Kazakhstan for the rescuers who arrived in the region to deal with the aftermath of the floods. It was noted that employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of the city of Astana, Turkestan and Kostanay regions, as well as specialists from Kazselzaschita and the Center for Disaster Medicine, took part in the timely evacuation of citizens and emergency and search and rescue operations.
