Kazakhstan's Government Allocates 16 Billion Tenge for Heat Source Modernization

The Government of Kazakhstan continues its work on the large-scale modernization of the country's heat and power complex, carried out at the direction of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

This was announced by the government's press service on April 30, 2024.

"The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, signed resolutions on allocating funds from the government's reserve for the reconstruction and major overhaul of heat sources in Kentau, Ridder, and Kyzylorda," the statement said.

Accordingly, slightly over 9 billion tenge is allocated for the reconstruction of boilers No. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 of CHP-5 in Kentau, 4.9 billion tenge for the major repair of technological equipment and infrastructure of the Ridder Heat and Power Plant, and over 2 billion tenge for the reconstruction of three steam boilers in the southern boiler house in Kyzylorda.

"Thus, a total of about 16 billion tenge will be directed towards the modernization of these heat sources. The measures taken will ensure reliable heat supply to the residents of Kentau, Ridder, and Kyzylorda in the upcoming heating seasons."

Overall, as part of the preparations for the heating season in 2024, the repair of 10 power units, 55 boilers, and 45 turbines is planned in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Aktau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Zhezkazgan, Aktobe, Ekibastuz, Stepnogorsk, Ridder, Balkhash, and Aksu.

It is noted that the implementation of the aforementioned projects will enable the introduction of new capacities totaling more than 1500 MW.
