Representatives of big business have expressed their readiness to help those affected by the floods in the Kostanay region. Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev has familiarized himself with the consequences of the floods in the region and the volume of upcoming restoration work.
In Kostanay, Arkalyk, Amangel'dy, Jangeldin, Karasu, and Kostanay districts, a local emergency regime is still in place. There are 160 people in evacuation centers. Kanat Bozumbaev met with the evacuated citizens and explained the procedure for compensation, including for flooded summer cottages.
"For those for whom it is impossible to restore housing, we will either build it or the akimat will acquire it. For those who will be able to restore housing, the akimat will repair it. This is done through sponsors, patrons, and representatives of business. I would like to emphasize that there are concerns in many social networks about the preservation of funds that big business directs towards housing restoration for the affected. I want to responsibly say that the funds will mainly be spent by the business itself. They will either acquire housing for the affected, build housing, or repair it," explained the Vice Prime Minister.
As Kanat Bozumbaev noted, sponsors will directly pay local or their own construction companies, excluding any influence of officials on the process of buying, repairing, or building houses, except for land allocation and the attachment of a typical project.
The Vice Prime Minister also focused on compensation payments and financial assistance. Over three thousand applications have been received from residents of the Kostanay region for one-time payments. Financial assistance has already been provided to almost two thousand families, totaling 705.2 million tenge.
"The payment of 100 MRP to all affected individuals is within the prerogative of local executive and representative bodies, that is, maslikhats and akimats. They determine the amount to be paid to whom and how. We understand that the problems are uniform throughout the country, and at the Operational Headquarters, we recommended that 100 MRP be paid to everyone, including residents whose houses were flooded, those evacuated as part of the ongoing events, and also to summer cottage owners of three categories: those who own cottages, tenants, and cottage owners for whom the cottage is their only residence," noted Kanat Bozumbaev.
Those affected by the floods are also entitled to compensation for lost and damaged property within the limit of 150 MRP. The list of such property includes: items for storage and food preparation, dining furniture, sleeping furniture, citizen information devices, water supply, and heating items.
The Vice Prime Minister instructed special commissions to complete all damage assessment work from the floods by May 10.
Meanwhile, residents of the Kostanay district have already begun to receive apartments in one of the new multi-story buildings. To date, the district akimat has signed around 30 agreements for providing housing. It is noted that one of the entrepreneurs will acquire apartments for 65 families in the Kostanay district and the city of Arkalyk for 1.5 billion tenge from personal funds and will allocate another 500 million to the "Demeu" fund.
Before the onset of cold weather, local authorities must provide housing for all those left homeless. In this regard, big entrepreneurs will help the akimat of the Kostanay region by acquiring and building 378 houses and renovating another 638 houses. Additionally, businessmen are sending their special equipment for dam construction.
It is worth noting that in total, companies have allocated over 400 billion tenge for the elimination of the consequences of the disaster and support for residents.
