Qonaev International Balloon Festival, which was scheduled to take place on May 11-12, has been canceled in the Almaty region.
The organizers announced the cancellation on their Instagram page, citing "serious natural disasters that have led to significant destruction and posed a threat to the safety of our country's residents. In light of these circumstances and in solidarity with the affected individuals, we consider it unacceptable from ethical and humanitarian perspectives to hold the International Balloon Festival. We believe that together we can overcome all difficulties and meet at the festival in the future when the situation stabilizes and brighter times come," the statement said.
Earlier, it was reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the cancellation of the International Forum in Astana on June 13-14 of this year due to massive floods in the country.
