On April 29, 2024, the defendant Kuandyk Bishimbayev was not brought to court on time. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aidos Rysbayev announced on May 2 in the corridors of the Mazhilis that an official investigation is being conducted into this matter.
Rysbayev clarified that he had no information suggesting that Kuandyk Bishimbayev attempted to commit suicide or was unwell. These speculations were circulating among Kazakhs on social media when he was not brought to court on time.
"There were technical reasons. Currently, an official investigation is underway, and once it is concluded, we will provide you with the information. The car may not start, break down, or have a flat tire. In other words, for technical reasons, it did not start at the scheduled time," the vice minister said.
On April 29, 2024, the start of the arguments in the case of former minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev was postponed from 10:00 to 14:30 due to the absence of the defendants in the courtroom.
