NC KazAvtoJol Increases Speed Limit on Astana - Temirtau Highway

The National Operator for Managing International and Republican Highways, JSC "NC KazAvtoJol," has issued a warning to drivers. According to a message dated May 3, 2024, the speed limit has been changed on the Astana - Temirtau route.

On the section of the Astana - Temirtau highway from kilometer 1305 to 1327 (the section from the village of Babatai to the village of Arshaly), the speed limit has been increased from 120 to 140 km/h.

However, on the toll road section near the transport interchange near the village of Arshaly, covering a distance of 4 km (from 1327 km + 350 m to 1331 km + 450 m of the Republican significance Ekaterinburg - Almaty highway), a speed limit of 120 km/h is in effect.

The speed limit restrictions on highways of republican significance are as follows:

- Category I-a – 140 km/h (Astana - Pavlodar, Astana - Shchuchinsk, Astana - Temirtau, Almaty - Konaev);

- Category I-b – 110 km/h (Almaty - Khorgos, Shymkent - border with Uzbekistan, Konaev - Taldykorgan, Shymkent - Kyzylorda, Shymkent - Taraz, Taraz - Kainar, Shchuchinsk - Kokshetau);

- Category II – 100 km/h (Pavlodar - Semey - Kalbatau, Kokshetau - Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar - border with Russia (direction Omsk), Uralsk - border with Russia (direction Samara), Uralsk - border with Russia (direction Saratov), Beyneu - Akzhigit - border with Uzbekistan).

Earlier reports indicated that on May 3, 2024, work began to update the road markings on the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD). Temporary traffic restrictions are being introduced on some lanes due to this. The completion of the work is planned by the end of the month.
