KazTransGas Aimak, the largest gas supply company in Kazakhstan, is planning to challenge in court the orders of the Committee for Regulating Natural Monopolies to refund 1.2 billion tenge to the population.
The company's press service stated that there is no evidence of illegally collecting money for connecting residents to gas services. According to Article 24, paragraph 2 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Gas and Gas Supply," connection is carried out exclusively by the gas distribution organization, in this case, AO "KazTransGas Aimak" and at the expense of the subscribers being connected.
The company emphasizes that consumers themselves have not filed any complaints against them, and since 2022, "KazTransGas Aimak" has been providing sealing services for free.
Commenting on the ban on charging for gas connection services, the company noted the contradictory judicial practice. "There are three rulings of the Supreme Court in favor of AO "KazTransGas Aimak" and two rulings against," they added.
In conclusion, the company stated that other natural monopoly entities also charge fees for connecting consumers. Earlier, the Committee for Regulating Natural Monopolies of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed AO "KazTransGas Aimak" to return 1.2 billion tenge to the people.
