Floods Worsen in Kul'sary City, Over 100 Houses Still Submerged

In Kul'sary city, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MЧС) reported that as of May 5th, more than 100 private residential houses and 10 business facilities remain flooded.

According to the department, over the past week, groups of rescuers from the MЧС of the Republic of Kazakhstan have drained water from 2815 houses.

There are currently 769 people in evacuation centers in the region, including 430 children.

As previously reported, on April 7, 2024, a state of emergency of a natural local scale continues in the region. The water level in the Zhaiyk River continues to rise with no signs of receding.

On May 1, 2024, the press secretary of the Akimat of the Atyrau region, Ruslan Zhumagaziev, detailed the measures being taken by the authorities to restore the city.
