Kazakhstan Floods: Thousands Return Home as Emergency Situations Ministry Acts

49,945 Kazakhstanis have returned to their homes after the start of the floods.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MЧС) has stated that a total of 8,958 residential buildings and 2,994 yards have had water drained and pumped out across the country.

In the city of Kulsary in the Atyrau region, water is being pumped out around the clock from the remaining 20 flooded houses using motor pumps and powerful mobile pumping stations. Disinfection is being carried out by servicemen from the 20982nd unit of the MЧС.

In Petropavlovsk and the Kyzylzhar district of the North Kazakhstan region, water continues to be drained from flooded areas. In the past day, water has been drained and pumped out from 184 houses.

In the village of Kuilys in the Irgiz district of the Aktobe region, a 2.5 km long dam is being constructed due to the gradual increase in the water level of the Torgai River. Over 30,000 sandbags and 19,000 units of inert material have been laid. Hourly monitoring of the water level is being conducted, and the situation is under special control.

A total of 11,445 people and 1,284 pieces of equipment, including 329 water pumping devices and 66 swimming facilities, as well as six aircraft, are involved in emergency rescue and flood control operations.

Shore reinforcement works in the Aktobe region are continuing even during the night.
