Kazakhstan Honors WWII Veterans with Highest Victory Day Payments in CIS

Kazakhstani veterans of the Great Patriotic War receive the highest payments by Victory Day compared to other countries.

In Kazakhstan, there are 148 WWII veterans. All of them received one-time cash payments by May 9th from local budget funds. The average amount of assistance is 1.7 million tenge.

It is worth noting that Kazakhstan has the largest one-time social payment for Victory Day compared to other CIS countries - an average of $3.8 thousand. For instance, in Tajikistan, there are 24 WWII veterans who received around $2.2-2.3 thousand, in Uzbekistan - $1.5 thousand, in Belarus 1,1 thousand veterans received $1.2 thousand each, in Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan - $1.1 thousand each, with the least amount allocated for these purposes in Russia. There, 12.5 thousand veterans received $107 each.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population announced on May 6th that a total of 3 billion tenge is allocated by local executive bodies for payments to 50.1 thousand individuals (WWII veterans and those who contributed to the victory).
