Kazakhstan Flood Update: Over 54,000 Return Home, Water Drained from Thousands

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MЧС) as of 10:00 on May 11, more than 54,000 people have returned to their homes in the flood-affected regions of Kazakhstan.

The Ministry reported that across the country, 54,389 individuals have returned home, while 5,281 people remain in evacuation centers, including 2,242 children.

A total of 10,969 residential buildings and 3,350 yards have had water drained from them. Over 18.2 million cubic meters of meltwater have been pumped out, with 7.7 million sandbags and 1.5 million tons of inert material laid down.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan also mentioned that 2,261 calls were received on the hotline.

On May 10, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov addressed questions during a briefing at the government regarding whether prices of products in the regions have changed due to the floods.
