Government of Kazakhstan Provides Extensive Aid to Flood-Affected Families

The Government of Kazakhstan has reported that as of May 11, 2024, more than 20,000 families have received a one-time payment of 100 times the Monthly Calculation Index (MCI).

On the government's website, it was stated that "to date, 20,601 families have received a one-time payment of 100 times the MCI totaling over 7.4 billion tenge. The volume of state aid for the loss of livestock has exceeded 1.1 billion tenge."

As of May 11, 130 families have already received homes and apartments in exchange for destroyed housing. Construction of 239 new houses for affected citizens is underway in the Aktobe, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, and Pavlodar regions. Additionally, 568 families have received compensation for housing repairs and restoration totaling over 710 million tenge. Overall, 9,995 residential houses have been inspected in the affected regions, with assessments conducted on 7,522 properties.

The government emphasized that "the work on compensating for the damage is ongoing and is under strict government control. By the President's instructions, comprehensive assistance and support will be provided to all affected citizens."

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as of 10:00 on May 11, over 54,000 people have returned to their homes in the flood-affected areas of Kazakhstan.
