In the Atyrau region, flood embankments are holding back the overflow of the Zhaiyk River. The water level at the hydro posts in the Inderbor and Makhamber districts has exceeded the critical mark. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MЧС) warns of further increase in water levels.

The department reported that MЧС rescuers are monitoring the condition of protective structures around the clock, and Minister Chingis Arinov descended downstream of the Zhaiyk River towards the Caspian Sea to visually inspect the protective embankments.
