Kazakh Woman Anar Burasheva Conquers Mount Everest with Historic Climb

in News / Kazakhstan - by

Anar Burasheva, along with a team of climbers as part of the sports-patriotic expedition Kazakh Everest Team, successfully summited Mount Everest on May 12 at 07:25 Nepali time.

Burasheva made history by becoming the first Kazakh woman to conquer this peak. Despite challenging weather conditions such as storms and blizzards above 8,000 meters, most expeditions had to turn back, but climbers from five countries managed to reach the summit, according to representatives of Kazakh Everest Team.

Meanwhile, Burasheva shared a video of the ascent process on her social media, highlighting the treacherous Khumbu Icefall.

On April 21, the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan announced that the world-renowned climber Maxut Zhumayev led the expedition. Zhumayev, who has conquered all 14 eight-thousanders in his career, is accompanied by a group of seven, with Anar Burasheva being the only woman.

Currently, Anar and Maxut are at Camp IV (8,000m), recovering their strength for the challenging descent ahead. While their condition is satisfactory, their energy is depleted, requiring them to gather their strength for the crucial journey back to the base camp.

The participants are expected to arrive at the base camp by early afternoon on May 12. Once they establish communication, their statements and messages about the successful ascent will be shared.
