Update on Zhaiyk River Water Levels in Atyrau Region on May 14

Emergency Situations Headquarters of the Atyrau Region provided an update on the water level in the Zhaiyk River on May 14, 2024.

Changes in the river's water level in the past day are as follows:

- Inderbor village: water rose by three centimeters. The water level is at 1041 cm, with a critical level of 845 cm.

- Makhambet village: water rose by 14 cm, with the water level at 980 cm and a critical level of 850 cm.

- Atyrau city: water rose by 6 cm, with the water level at 551 cm, just above the critical level of 550 cm.

- Zhanatalap village: water rose by 7 cm, reaching a level of 398 cm, below the critical level of 500 cm.

- Erkinkala village: water rose by 5 cm, with the water level at 356 cm, below the critical level of 450 cm.

Earlier, it was reported that an emergency occurred near the archaeological site of the ancient settlement of Sarayshyk. The head of the Makhambet district, Kayrat Nurlybayev, arrived at the scene. Eleven units of special equipment and several local residents were involved in the response. Soil was filled along the dam and sandbags were laid as preventive measures.
