State of Emergency Declared in Ekibastuz Due to Pipeline Collapse

in News / Kazakhstan - by

In Ekibastuz, a state of emergency of a man-made nature has been declared. The reason for this is the collapse of part of a pipeline.

Local authorities explained that on the main sewage gravity collector of the city along 50 Let Street, due to its long-term operation and wear, the pipeline was flooded, significantly reducing its capacity. This led to multiple longitudinal and transverse cracks, causing periodic emergencies due to the collapse of the upper part of the pipeline.

"Since July 2023, four instances of ground collapse of the upper part of the pipeline with soil movement and an increase in the area of collapse have been recorded. Due to the situation on the main sewage collector in Ekibastuz, a state of emergency of a local man-made nature has been declared. This allows for the allocation of funds and the commencement of repair work," the press service of the Akimat of Ekibastuz reported on May 15, 2024.

The State Communal Enterprise "Gorvodokanal" has developed the project "Reconstruction of the sewage collector using the trenchless method (sanitation method)". The project cost is 5.2 billion tenge. The length of the collector is 2.26 km and the pipe diameter is 1200 mm.
