Atyrau's Zhayyk River Exceeds Critical Levels, Emergency Headquarters Reports

Emergency Headquarters of the Atyrau region shared the latest information on the water level in the Zhayyk River.

As of 8:00 on May 16, 2024 (compared to 8:00 on May 15), the water level in the Zhayyk River exceeded critical marks in Atyrau and the village of Makhambet:

- Atyrau +4 cm, water level - 557 cm (critical level - 550 cm);

- Makhambet village +7 cm, water level - 995 cm (critical level - 850 cm).

In two other villages, the water in the Zhayyk River continues to rise:

- Zhanatalap village +4 cm, water level - 403 cm (critical level - 500 cm);

- Erkinkala village +4 cm, water level - 361 cm (critical level - 450 cm).

However, in Inderbor village, the water level in the Zhayyk River decreased by 4 cm over the day to 1035 cm, but still exceeds the critical level of 845 cm.

On the eve of May 15, 2024, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) of Kazakhstan stated that water from the territory of Russia continues to arrive, which is expected to further increase the water level in the Zhayyk River.
