Emergency Update: Rising Water Levels in Atyrau Region's Zhayyk River Alarmingly High

Emergency Headquarters in the Atyrau region shared the latest information on the water level in the Zhayyk River (Ural).

As of May 18, 2024 (compared to May 17), the water level in the Zhayyk River has exceeded critical marks in Atyrau, the villages of Makhamet, and Inderbor:

- Inderbor +3 cm. The water level is 1027 cm (critical level - 845 cm);

- Makhamet +8 cm. Water level - 1008 cm, critical level - 850 cm;

- Atyrau +6 cm, water level - 566 cm, critical level - 550 cm.

In two other villages, the water in the Zhayyk River continues to rise:

- Zhanatalap +3 cm. Water level - 410 cm, maximum level - 500 cm;

- Erkinkala +3 cm. Water level - 368 cm, critical level - 450 cm.

It was previously reported that to drain the incoming water, a section of the highway connecting the villages of Makhamet and Sarytogai was cut off, and now residents of these villages are being transported by boats.
