Digital Bridge 2024 IT Forum in Astana Canceled Amid Flooding Crisis

in News / Kazakhstan - by

International IT forum Digital Bridge 2024, which was scheduled to take place on September 5-7 this year in Astana, has been canceled.

The Ministry of Digital Development cited the floods and the president's directive to refrain from holding large events due to the complex flooding situation in the country as the reasons for the cancellation.

Digital Bridge, which was set to take place for the sixth time this year, started in 2018 and has become the largest platform in Central Asia for discussing the latest trends and prospects for the development of the IT industry. It is worth noting that the forum was also canceled in 2020 due to the extraordinary situation - the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The spring floods this year have been the largest natural disaster in Kazakhstan in the past 80 years. In light of this, in order to save financial resources for the elimination of the extensive destruction and to provide assistance to the citizens of the country, the head of state instructed the government to refrain from holding planned image-building and other major events.

The organizers of Digital Bridge - the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the international technopark Astana Hub - express their gratitude to all those interested in participating in the forum. Under favorable circumstances, the international IT forum Digital Bridge will resume its activities in 2025.

This is not the first event canceled due to floods in Kazakhstan.
