As of 9:00 PM on March 12, 2024, restrictions have been imposed on two highways of republican significance in two regions of Kazakhstan.

In the Aktobe region, one highway with a total length of 377 km is affected by strong winds, low-level blizzards, and black ice. The restricted route spans from Samara to Shymkent, Aktobe, and further to the village of Irgiz, limiting access to both cargo and public transport.

Meanwhile, in the East Kazakhstan region, a 160 km highway is under restriction due to the threat of spontaneous snow avalanches. The affected route runs from Ust-Kamenogorsk to Altai, Ulken Naryn, Katon-Karagay, Rahmanovskie Keys, Ushanovskoe village, and finally to the city of Altai, affecting all types of transport.

A total of 276 pieces of equipment and 294 personnel have been mobilized to address the challenges on these highways of national importance.

Prior reports have indicated the return of 20-degree frost to Kazakhstan, adding to the challenges faced by the authorities and commuters in the region.
