Kazakhstan Railway Company Fined for Railway Crossing Incident in Turkistan Region

in News / Kazakhstan - by

The national company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" has been fined due to the collapse of the railing at a railway crossing in the Turkistan region. The incident occurred on March 3rd on the section between "Kyzylsay - Mankent", dividing Shymkent and Sairam district, where traffic is always heavy.

When a train approaches, few dare to cross the railway crossing, as cars come to a halt, waiting for the train to pass before proceeding. Fortunately, no cars were passing underneath when the railing collapsed. The company stated that the incident was caused by a metal banner attached to the railings, but safety threats have now been addressed.

The road section has long been criticized by drivers for being too narrow, with plans for expansion discussed three years ago. The authorities aim to redesign the tunnel in the future after completing the necessary documentation.

Additionally, the police in the Turkistan region have initiated an administrative case regarding the incident. It is worth noting that during a virtual visit to the Innovation Center of "NC "KTZ" on February 28, 2024, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev officially launched the operation of a transport and logistics terminal in the city of Siane, built as a joint project between Kazakhstan and China.
