Special services in Kyrgyzstan have discovered a tunnel in a private house used for smuggling goods and people into Uzbekistan. The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic revealed on March 19, 2024, that the tunnel was found in the house of a resident in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region, in close proximity to the state border of Uzbekistan.

The tunnel, with a depth of 15 meters and a total length of 130 meters, had a section that extended 50 meters towards the Kyrgyz border, with a height of 1 meter 70 centimeters. The owner of the house, born in 1986, has been detained for organizing the smuggling channel.

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic has initiated actions to identify all individuals involved in the operation of the tunnel, those who illegally crossed the Kyrgyz border, and the types of goods smuggled into the country.

This discovery comes after a previous incident on January 11, 2024, when an attempt to smuggle vapes worth 35 million tenge from Russia into Kazakhstan was reported.
